Oakland & The World Enterprises
The Mission of Oakland & the World Enterprises (OAW), a nonprofit organization, is to launch for-profit businesses for cooperative ownership by formerly incarcerated and other people facing extreme barriers to economic survival and support those businesses to profitability. Our first business is West Oakland Farms, situated on our property at Seventh and Campbell Streets in West Oakland, California. There, we are set to break ground in the Fall of 2021 on our 100% affordable housing complex, with 79 units of housing for low and very low income people and ground floor commercial space for other OAW businesses, including a fitness center, a neighborhood market, a restaurant with live entertainment and a tech center. In the meantime, in May 2021, we are set to launch our second business, a food truck. We believe we are creating a model for Oakland and, indeed, the world toward alleviating poverty, reducing crime and creating the conditions for prosperity for everyone.

Black Liberation Walking Tour
The Black Liberation Walking Tour (BLWT) is a community-led cultural asset map celebrating Hoover-Foster’s multi-generational Black history and culture. It asserts resident voices and documents sites of cultural and historical significance in our neighborhood. We celebrate belonging through the 100 year narrative ribbon leading from the early West Coast civil rights movement through the second wave of the Great Migration to the Black Liberation actions of the present day.
Cancer Research Institute
The mission of the Cancer Research Institute is to save more lives by fueling the discovery and development of powerful immunotherapies for all types of cancer. This applies to all patients with cancer, including members of the Black and POC communities that experience significant disparities in access to quality health care, particularly cancer care. These same racial or ethnic groups also have the highest rates of cancer incidence and mortality among certain cancer types.

Unravel is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working to bridge the gap in funding for pediatric cancer research. With the help of warrior families and their communities, Unravel raises awareness of the need for this research and the funds to support it.
Unlike the typical grant funding model, Unravel gives unrestricted funds to innovative pediatric cancer researchers, which removes barriers and accelerates the development of more effective and less toxic treatments for children with cancer.
